Support Act
Support Act is an industry-led charity, striving to create a safe and thriving industry for all. Although mainly focused on the music industry, they do offer many services to the wider performing arts industry, such as their Wellbeing Helpline (see below). Their extensive website hosts a heap of free information on mental health and wellbeing topics. They also run mental health first aid courses and other related training courses such as bystander training.

The Support Act Wellbeing Helpline is a free, confidential phone counselling service, available 24/7 to anyone anywhere in Australia working in the music, performing arts, or other creative industries. They also offer a range of dedicated support services for First Nations people. In addition to the main Wellbeing Helpline, there are dedicated helplines for First Nations people, the LGBTQI+ community, and Managers, as well as a Safety at Work line.
If you would like to speak with a clinician of a particular age, gender, religion, race, sexuality, political bias or any other diverse background or experience, please let the team know when you call. If you prefer not to speak on the phone, there is also an email form on their website.
Entertainment Assist
Entertainment Assist is an organisation that focuses on reducing the alarming rates of suicide, anxiety and depression in the entertainment industry by providing free, evidence-based education programs. They conduct research into the state of mental health in our industry, as well as running free, preventative programs.
Hey Mate
Run as a social enterprise, Hey Mate delivers mental health, wellness support and education to the music, entertainment, performing arts and creative industries. They offer therapy, coaching, wellbeing workshops, mental health first aid and other activities, which are typically subsidised or free. Follow them on social media to hear about their upcoming events.
Arts Wellbeing Collective
Whilst no longer operating, Arts Wellbeing Collective was a preventative health initiative run by Arts Centre Melbourne that provided services and resources to support positive mental health in our industry. Sadly, this initiative was discontinued in 2024. Their website is still live, although it is no longer being updated. The site includes a range of excellent resources such as videos, articles, and podcasts from industry practitioners and experts who understand our industry.
