PROFESSIONAL MEMBER

Any individual who:

  • is engaged in stage management roles as their paid occupation; and
  • typically resides in Australia.

You will need to submit your curriculum vitae (CV) demonstrating your employment in stage management in Australia. Please ensure you include the names and contact details of three referees in this document.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER

Any individual who:

  • is engaged as any of the following: pro-am, retired or former stage manager; company, production, technical or venue manager; educator; producer; other similar position; or person with an interest in stage management; and
  • resides in Australia or overseas.

You will need to submit your curriculum vitae (CV) demonstrating your interest in stage management and/or employment in a related profession. Please ensure you include the names and contact details of three referees in this document.

STUDENT MEMBER

Any individual who:

  • is enrolled in a tertiary educational institute, TAFE or other registered vocational training organisation with an interest in stage management; and
  • typically resides in Australia.

You will need to submit a letter or similar (such as a ‘Confirmation of Enrolment’) from a course leader or teacher showing your enrolment and interest in stage management.

CORPORATE MEMBER

Not being offered in 2023-2024 membership year

Any body corporate that:

  • operates as any of the following: production/producing company; venue; tertiary educational institute; TAFE or registered vocational training organisation; secondary school; industry supplier; event company; or other organisation that engages stage managers or has an interest in stage management.

You will need to submit a letter demonstrating your interest in stage management or business in a related profession.

 

For stage managers, by stage managers 

By becoming a member of SMA AU today, you are supporting the development of this new organisation. We encourage all members to participate as well as contribute to ensure they get the most of out their membership. 

Current opportunities for members include: 

  • Financial – become a member and your fees will go towards the development and running costs of SMA AU 
  • Participate – attend a Community Hour session (launching in June 2023) 
  • Learn – use our Resource Library (launching in second half of 2023)  
  • Network – engage with other members via social media and our events such as Community Hour
  • Volunteer – join our Board or a committee 
  • Educate others – share information for our Resource Library 
  • Share your opinion – through consultation and engagement opportunities 
  • Spread the word – encourage friends and colleagues to join us; like us on social media 

As our organisation grows and more members contribute their skills and insight, there will be further membership benefits on offer.

Our Constitution

Our founding document, the Constitution of Stage Managers Association Australia Ltd is publicly available
for members and others who might be interested in becoming a member.

Once you have decided on your membership level:

  1. Have a look at our Constitution!  To represent you as your association, we need to make sure we are on the same page.
  2. Click ‘Join Now’ and enter your details.
  3. As outlined in our membership section of our Constitution (Clause 13, Page 8), we require a supporting document (as detailed in Member Categories table above) to form part of your application. Please upload one PDF, no more than 1MB in size, naming the file using the following convention: LastNameFirstNameApplicationSupportDoc_2022
  4. Tick that you agree to our membership terms, submit your form and pay your membership fee to our bank account via internet banking.
  5. Your application will be sent to our Board of Directors for review. Please allow up to 7 days from receipt of payment for a response as we are all volunteers and may need to verify your application. If the waiting time exceeds 7 days, please send any enquiries to Membership
  6. On approval, you’ll receive an email confirmation with log in details to access the members area of our website and our Members Facebook Group.
